I'm missing a lot of notes on Expert+ difficulty
I'm playing this game on the Quest 2 headset. When I play songs on Expert difficulty, hitboxes seem fine. I miss maybe 8 notes on average. However, as soon as I try to do songs on Expert+ difficulty, I seem to miss notes a lot, and most of the time hits just don't seem to register. What is going on here? How do I adapt to this?

Expert+ songs do tend to be a bit faster and closer together with certain notes than Expert songs, so it could very well just be a timing issue. Are you missing notes regardless of the spacing, or is it sections with rapid-fire notes back to back that cause you trouble?

It could be a VR issue - I have an Oculus Rift S myself, and it works fine for Expert+ songs though I'm not skilled enough to complete many of the harder Expert+ songs yet. Some VR headsets though can sometimes have issues with tracking, and if you suspect that is the problem I would double check that your sensors (does the Quest 2 use cameras?) are clear and that your controllers are charged properly (a low charge can cause issues in my experience with registration).

Best of luck to you in any case. I would try playing the Expert+ songs on 80% or 90% speed to see if the problem persists, or see if there are particular sections giving you trouble.

I doubt this is a hit box issue. If I'm hearing right, this is one of your first times playing Ex+. The jump from expert to expert+ (in my experience) is MUCH larger than the jump from the other difficulties. It might just be adjusting to the faster speeds.

The thing that puzzles me the most is that I miss notes even when dropping speed to 50%. Like, I can do pretty fast songs at Expert difficulty ("Rolling" by Limp Bizkit, for example), but Expert+ always means missed notes. Go figure. Maybe I just strike notes too late, I tend to hit them with the middle of the lightsaber. Readjusting reaction timing could take quite some time.

I have a Rift S headset too, but nothing changes if I use it instead of Quest 2. It might have something to do with lighting in my room, or the TV and computer screens mess up tracking.

Not really the first time, at least not the first try. I've been trying to get to the necessary skill level for quite some time now. I can comfortably play a lot of Expert songs at 120%, but that doesn't help much with Expert+ songs.

So I moved to an area where headset cameras don't see any reflective surfaces, and only indirect light comes in, turned on the little infrared lamp in the corner of my room, and for now hit detection seems fine. I mostly appear to be missing notes due to mistimed strikes now (as expected). Boy do they fly fast even at 80% speed!

I've got to a point where Expert difficulty is kinda boring :D Expert+ shall keep me busy for quite some time.

Hi.Could you help me? My game works horribly, after the last oculus quest 2 update in June it's impossible to play the game. I can play 2-3 songs and then the game starts to glitch, skipping cubes, video stuttering or the cubes stop moving. At first I can only get the cubes with the ends of the sabers, and then at some point I cannot hit them at all. I can only play songs once, the second time I play the same song it becomes unplayable. I have disabled all the effects, but that doesn't help either. The songs are only somewhat playable on static Jump Offset, on Dynamic the game refuses to work properly and lags a lot. Height isn't adjustable in any way, neither automatic adjustment, nor the manual setting. And it's important to me because I'm short (152 cm) and I can't hit some cubes because they're out of my reach. Out there are a lot of songs where I can't reach width or height wise. My computer is decent, graphics card GeForce RTX 3080 , CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core , RAM 16.0 GB , Samsung SSD 500 GB. I don't know what to do, there seems to be something wrong with the oculus quest 2 or my computer. I play with cable link through steam with the option -vrmode oculus. Thanks in advance for the tips.

Is OpenXR runtime set to oculus or not? If it's not you can set it in the Oculus's PC app's settings.

Hi. Oculus is set as the active OpenXR runtime.

Take a look at performance graphs in Task manager and in the Oculus debug tool, see if anything looks bad or anything close to bad.
You just gotta practice.

Hi, I measured my temperatures using HWiNFO64 and checked my task manager while playing, and noticed that the CPU and GPU are underutilised (not reaching 100% usage). My Ryzen 5800X does get pretty warm (~80°C - 90°C), the GPU doesn't overheat.

Those CPU temps are awfully high, the CPU tends to underthrottle at above 90ºC, undervolting it by abit (or at least stopping it from overclocking ) might help on that.

I've been playin beat saber for just over a year now and at one point I also thought maybe it was my vr setup or the game. I tried using different vr headsets over time (q2, valve index, vive pro, hp reverb g2 ect.) and over time i learnt that even if i thought i hit a note the reality was i just missed due to swinging too fast or too slow - missing timing or just straight up missing. as my skill improved i also stopped missing like that. My tip is too just play and don't worry about misses like that. Over time things will become much easier for you and these things happen much less frequently. sure 99% of misses are a skill issue but 1% sure is the game or your gear trolling you xD

If anyone is getting this because they're swinging too early then I recommend a mod called JD Fixer, you can use it to lower jump distance and make the notes spawn in closer to you. Really really helps with this issue.
