free songs

be nice if there were more free songs and not just keep adding pack after pack that we have to pay for. We have already paid for the game, why must we keep paying for it to keep playing all the new songs?

Because that's how music artists work... if you want to know why, go and ask the music creator, linkin park, 50cents, lady gaga and more, why they charge you to hear and listen to songs and download there music e.t.c

we are paying for a purchase of those music creators music..

that's like saying;
I brought a car, so why must i pay fuel
or
I brought a car, so why must i have to pay for parts for the car that need replacing... i already paid like 30k-100k whatever.. why must i pay more...

Custom songs are superior to the built in tracks. The in game ones are garbage in comparison. Wow.

not sure why all the weird fanboys are defending the releases from Beat Games. the free content available is super-stale at this point, the free stuff has been mostly garbage (just aimed at being aggressively hard songs), and I have yet to see a paid-content pack drop that I have any interest in spending money on.

imo they should be making whatever deals they can to try to push out at least a free track a month and should probably refocus releasing paid "mix albums" instead of content packs from single artists.

also if they could stop releasing updates that do essentially nothing every month except breaking all mods -- that would be a huge plus.

Custom songs can be worse or better, it always depends on what you download. But there is a rating system, so if you want maps that are fun, start with the ones with the most upvotes.

If you like the shipped songs, then simply buy them.

And yes, I doubt anybody would complain about a few free songs every once in a while by the developers.

Beat Saber is a software in constant development, so with constant dev work. They could either make it a paid service and release "free" new stuff regularly that everybody has to pay for like Netflix or to release paid DLCs instead for further financing. They opted for the second option. I'm ok with it because that way I can choose to either buy their well-made packs or go custom songs. Going in with the expectation to get free music content until the end of time with a single purchase is a utopian concept, especially considering the high licensing fees for music.
And yes, I'm also of the opinion that their music packs are well-made because the packs keep a generally balanced difficulty in their difficulty levels and most of the songs are fun. Custom songs can also be fun, but they are mostly not balanced in the difficulty level, and it is mostly tedious to find the good ones out there.
