Why do I keep swinging so early?
I'm getting tired of doing this, even when mentally telling myself to wait I end up swinging too late or something. Hating myself hardcore rn

It just takes time. You will eventually start hitting blocks in time and getting the flow of songs.

It's happening because you don't take the flow in. Sometimes tracks have sections where pitch is increasing, but rhythm is still the same, and your brain interprets it wrong like bpm increase.

Try turning off the sound completely, focus on your body movement rhythm when slicing the blocks, take it in and then start again with the music still focusing on your body movement. Also important to never follow the blocks with your eyes during normal play (exception is accuracy map), just focus on the distance where the blocks are spawning/turning (note jump distance). You can adjust this distance with NJSfixer mod, if you are hitting too early then it would be more natural for you to make this distance closer. Try setting it to 19-21 and adjust for different maps as they may deliver rhythm in very different ways.

it also helps to go into faster modes like in practice in order to be able to hit them accurately, since you don't want to hit them too late either

unless like mine the game ♥♥♥♥♥ itself and crashes steam vr causing it to take a good hour to restart the computer multiple times just to actually play and then realise it keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ itself and disregarding 50% of misses even if the blocks are so close together its impossible to miss, game is like nah

If you are talking about OSTs or DLCs then it's no surprise as they are not really good in mapping by today's standards. You really gotta know good mappers at beatsaver.com to get good quality maps. Ranked maps are also 100% good with timing, as they are getting checked for that by a dedicated community team.
