How to manually install Beat Saber Mods

For anyone having trouble installing it via each separate link I have compiled a basic .ZIP file that contains all the folders you need to just get your old custom songs up and running again. Along with (hopefully) easier to follow instructions

if you want any additional mods (such as the song downloader) find them and install them below. I wiped my beatsaber and reinstalled it twice, and got my old custom songs to load both times with the provided package just to be sure I uploaded something that worked


Because I know its going to happen. somebody, somewhere, is either:

A: Not going to know why Mod Saber is no longer working

B: Is going to blame the Devs for "removing mods"

C: Is going to leave a negative review because the Devs "ruined the game"

D: A mix of A,B, and C

I am going to explain how to install mods manually as the creater of the original mod seems to have abandoned his work for one reason or another. and his site has had things such as "Goodbye." "Goodbye World," and most recently "o7" on it. I presume he's hit a bump in life somewhere and is sorting through it and as such has discontinued work on the project.

However, the files for the mods are still possible to download and install manually.

First: The dependencies (other sub mods depend on one or more of these to function. easier to just download and install them all)

This first mod is the most important one as none of the other mods will work without it. To install simply drag the contents of the "Release" folder into your Beat Saber directory, and run the IPA.exe

These are the other dependencies for other mods, such as UI, custom sabers/colors, etc. I'm not going to pretend to know which goes to what, so its easier to just install them all. Juuuuust incase. To install these just drag their contents into your beat saber directory.

Next up will be the mods themselves. Download and install these the same way as the previous dependencies unless stated otherwise via a readme somewhere in the mod folder

The First mod, "SongLoader" is needed in order to load custom songs, if all you want to do is load and play your previously installed custom songs, this is the only other mod you need. Otherwise go through the list and install whatever mods you plan on using.

You will need "SongBrowserPlugin" to browse and install songs from within the game. otherwise you need to download and install the songs manually

Edit: Thanks SilentCaay for pointing out you must run the game at least once prior to reinstalling the ModLoader otherwise it will purge all of your custom songs

Edit 4: ~Ikki~ noticed I missed the ScoreSaver mods. kinda important if you want leaderboards. Have added those to the mod list.

Yes, you would need the mod ScoreSaber. I thought I had that listed in my list of mods, evidently I missed one. I'll edit the post to include that. as well as give you the links here

(I assume you use steam but ya never know) just download the one you need and install it in the same manner as the other mods. Granted I have not tested to see whether this mod still functions as the author of it is the guy that made the mod loader that no longer exists

Did you make sure to put the "Plugins" into the plugins folder created by the IPA? And not the plugins folder than comes with beat saber?

I made this mistake myself twice before I realized what I was doing wrong. If so then I might suggest:

1. Backing up your custom songs

2. Deleting the contents of your Beat Saber folder and verifying the files to re-aquire everything vanilla

(Simply uninstalling and reinstalling may just restore whatever backed up cloud files you have, which will just put all the broken mods back in place)

3. Once re-verified and downloaded. Start the game once

4. Close game and follow steps in preinstalled package.

Am not home atm so I can't do much more than type this out atm. Otherwise I might try making another package with pictures or something.

Just make sure you put things into their respective folders. So the stuff I placed into the "plugins" folder goes into the IPA created plugins folder in your Beat Saber folder.

Do not put the entire plugins folder into the plugins folder. Only the contents of it

Same with the Beat Saber_Data (excuse me if I got the name of this folder wrong, not home to look at it) folder. Put the contents of that folder I provided into your Beat Saber_Data folder. Not the entire folder itself.

I think it went wrong because I mussed out the dependencies. So you might want to get them?

I also found this link, where they are promoting BeatDrop 2.0 as a replacement for modsaber.

You need to install ScoreSaber. If you did it through my dropbox I did not include that in there.

Awesome somebody looks to be picking up the pieces the original mod author left.

Means my temporary guide to this bandaid fix might not be needed soon :D

I have an issue using the custom UI plugin, it says "new type of plugin found in customui.dll, it maybe an old plugin" and then the game crashes before I even get to play it, does anyone know how to fix this?
