How can you score higher from slicing?
Edit: I figured it out after playing some more on expert. Your score is based on how wide you swing your saber. How hard you hit makes no difference, and flipping your wrist for speed will reduce your score because you are limiting your motion. You have to swing your entire arm for maximum score when cutting the cube.

I notice each time I slice a cube I'm getting various scores from low 30s to high 100s. What determines this score? How perfectly I slice down through the middle? The distance I'm slicing from the center? Or maybe the score is based on how hard I'm hitting? I don't get it, the scores seem random.

I'd say it purely comes down to how hard/fast you hit the blocks. I've looked back at my footage of me beating my score on Lvl Insane - Expert and I've either shaved the edges of blocks or had a very slanty cut but still got 100+ points for those cuts.

After playing some more I figured it out. It's not about how hard you hit but how wide you are swinging. I've got it down pretty good now. Played an entire level swinging lightly but using wide strokes and was getting over 100 scores consistently now.

Someone please inform me how the wide, fast swings being rewarded in the above video is not awesome and a cool system for keeping Beat Saber an engaging activity.

It disappoints me to hear that there are some voices saying the scoring system should be retuned to de-emphasize swing size and follow-through.

Hopefully the developer has the confidence to keep tuning the essential reward system of incentivizing finding a physical, dance-like rhythm of rewarding exaggerated swings and not rewarding wrist flicks.
