I got through the official maps first try, though faster song and disappearing notes was a bit much, so if you are used to the official mapping I'd say go for them. However if you are not, and don't want to play through on slower speeds first and learn, then it might not be the right choice.
I also dont listen to Imagine Dragons so I might not be the right person to know what feels best :P
Now, I'm not saying that the community made versions of these songs are bad, but I'm saying that them being free only matters if they're as fun or more fun than the official ones.

Highlighted correct answers for ease of use. Don't expect anyone who paid to tell you the free version is better, they are still trying to convince themselves it was worth it. ^_^
You say that but I haven't installed mods since forever. Don't try to put words in peoples mouth, it doesn't work.
I've been playing rhythm games for 20+ years, and I can say that yes, sometimes custom songs are better, but in this case it's not. It's very simple: You like very simple up and down patterns for Believer: play the custom song. You like variation in patterns and whatnot? Play the DLC.
