Cant properly play Multiplayer

for a few days now, whenever i try to host a game it takes longer then usual, and when i invite a friend he keeps saying that theres an unknown network error preventing him from joining my game, and when he hosts a game and i try to join, i get the same thing. my internet connection is completely fine and so is his, steam isnt in offline mode and we both reinstalled the game and ran the game as administrator. This problem also just started arriving ever since we wanted to play again 3 days ago. Any ideas?

Thanks for the answer, aparrently it has to do with my firewall, disabling it works for now but i will look into how i can get an exception in

I played today with a friend and in a closed game.
He got a connection error with the GOG servers and the game broke the connection.
Approximately this error began to appear from the new year sometimes at launch,
and now in the middle of the game
