wireless will need a 360 reciever
And yes use motioninjoy for ps3 controller.
you have to buy the friggin connector peice for the wireless, then you have to get the charger peice. costing up to $60. plus the cost of the $60 controller. when a steel series or wireless usb ps3 controller work alot better and are not ripped off of the game cube controller.
If you already have a PS3 controller and don't have a 360 controller, then sure that is a reason to want to make your PS3 controller work on PC.
But if you are looking specifically for better control for Portal 2 on PC, isn't the keyboard and mouse better than any controller setup? I use mostly the default keyboard layout except with crouch moved the shift button so I can hit it easier with my small finger while my other three fingers are on WASD. For the controller I had to make a lot of custom changes and it is still really awkward. Keyboard and mouse is just so much more accurate and easier. But maybe that is just me; I was never very good at using a control stick for FPS console games.
microsoft is less user friendly on my hands since i have to break my thumbs just to fit my hands on the controller. its like holding a ball of pain. ps3 is alot more friendly because of its symmetry.
