Better Controllers for Portal 2
hello, most gaming controllers today are made in the format of a ps2/ps3 controller. and it is 3 times harder to install an xbox controller onto pc. at the least would it be to much to ask for a ps3 style controller type to be added to the game?

there is your problem. i dont own one and i refuse to buy inferior company's products. sony was on the market first and have been first in line in my interests since the ps1 was first introduced to me as a child.

You have to use a program called Motioninjoy, it is free, just Google it. I use it all the time with no problems. Just make sure you check off the 360 emulator box in the program because most games are 360 native. Cheers

actually it is
you have to buy the friggin connector peice for the wireless, then you have to get the charger peice. costing up to $60. plus the cost of the $60 controller. when a steel series or wireless usb ps3 controller work alot better and are not ripped off of the game cube controller.

How often do you need a wireless controller when you are sitting at your computer? (Or even while sitting in front of the TV? Most people use a wireless controller, but then just have it plugged into the charger anyway, thus making it a more expensive and bulkier wired controller.) A new wired 360 controller is only $30. It uses a USB plug so that it can be pluged into a PC and most modern games on Windows have native support for it. Microsoft 360 controller drivers for Microsoft windows[www.microsoft.com]. The fact that 360 and Windows are both Microsoft products means that Microsoft has made it really simple to use a wired 360 controller.

If you already have a PS3 controller and don't have a 360 controller, then sure that is a reason to want to make your PS3 controller work on PC.

But if you are looking specifically for better control for Portal 2 on PC, isn't the keyboard and mouse better than any controller setup? I use mostly the default keyboard layout except with crouch moved the shift button so I can hit it easier with my small finger while my other three fingers are on WASD. For the controller I had to make a lot of custom changes and it is still really awkward. Keyboard and mouse is just so much more accurate and easier. But maybe that is just me; I was never very good at using a control stick for FPS console games.

Offline co-op for Portal 2 requires a compatible second controller. You can't just use the keyboard and stuff like Joy2Key.

microsoft is less user friendly on my hands since i have to break my thumbs just to fit my hands on the controller. its like holding a ball of pain. ps3 is alot more friendly because of its symmetry.

and i find a controller works better because there are less buttons to figure out what goes where
