(SPOILER) Question about GLaDOS
When you and Wheatley return to her room after making useless turrets and disabling the neurotoxin, the reason Wheatley is allowed to take her place is that GLaDOS is "corrupted" according to a voice.
But what makes her corrupted? I never understood that. In the end, Wheatley is thought to be corrupted because you put a lot of corrupted cores there with him, but GLaDOS had none.

Well in the end of the first game you end up destroying HER cores. Mabey the system dosen't pick up on it until:
A. She restarted the systems.
or B. another, non-corrupted AI was in the chamber to replace her.

That makes sense I guess. You could say that it didn't happen immediately after she was powered up again because Wheatley was thrown away quickly, but that sounds more like fanon than anything else.

Yeah, well they doesn't say, so all we can do is guess. :P

It picks up that shes curropted because another core enters the room (just a observated guess)

I always thought that the corrupt part was Caroline, which would make sense since it is the Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, and that The Anouncer (as the voice is called) would notify workers of a core corruption whenever a human (Chell) entered the room.
RSZealot Aug 25, 2013 @ 2:39pm
That also makes sense.

The Announcer says that she's 80% corrupt. GLaDOS + 4 cores = 5 total. 4/5 cores destroyed (portal 1) = 80%.
The Potato Aug 25, 2013 @ 7:24pm
or 80% Caroline, 10% test protocol, 5% database, and 5% memory banks. also that would probably be missing, not corrupt. also if 4/5 missing cores = 80% corrupt, why does 3/4 corrupt cores = 100% corrupt? (Wheatley boss)

this is blowing my mind...

Wheatley's now corrupt because he's unable to control the facility. He also really doesn't sound too sane during the boss battle.

Wheatly himself was a core... thats why 3/4=100%. He was the first 25%.
rft50 Aug 26, 2013 @ 8:28am
now that sounds a bit more logical for the final boss :P
Flammable Aug 26, 2013 @ 10:03am
it maybe because she did not have her morality core, anger core, cake coreetc

Spoilers: GLaDOS has 4 personality cores attached to her that you destroy to win the boss fight.
