co-op cant play - disconnect please help
No matter what ive tried, anytime i try to play co-op on portal it simply says I, or my partner have disconnected. This often occurs at the final loading screen where the level is about to begin. It used to work fine about a month ago when i last played. Ive tried friends and random online partners
-Trouble shooting ive already attempted:
- I am up to date on downloads,
- reinstalled portal and steam
- no firewall active.

Same, me and my friend are not able to play online co-op. Send invite>accept invite>go to loading screen, one of us gets stuff in the loading screen showing 1 dot of 'loaded data' while the other sees 'your partner has diconnected'.

I am able to play co-op with another friend however.

Also the same problem. Asked help from Steam Support about a week ago but so far no response.

thanks but what is a port & how do you configure them? And why were they working before but not now?

In cmd:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset reset.log

Which reset winsock and TCP/IP.
Strange as other peoples accounts worked on my machine, but it is fixed now, I'm not complaining!

I have no idea what this means

I guess Valve expects everybody to be computer literate just to play their games. There is never any help for the layman.

completely agreed unclebuddy. Not everyone understands the slang and terms used in computers. If I started using the terms used in my business, although it would be obvious to others in my profession everyone else would be lost. When talking to a layman I make it useable for everyone. What's the point in making others feel stupid. And if you can't explain it in common terms don't bother answering the question. If I knew what all that meant I'd likely know how to fix the issue!

"In cmd:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset reset.log"

means: in the windows menu "search" write "CMD" and hit enter.
A black dos box apears where you can write stuff.
Then your 1. write "netsh winsock reset" and hit enter
2. "netsh int ip reset reset.log" and hit enter.

Then you restart the computer. Hope it helped the non-experts :D

I'm having the same problom and i'm on a mac, and this "netsh" stuff doesn't help. Is the a fix for MAC???

"In cmd:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset reset.log"

CMD is the command prompt in Windows. The netsh is code you can write in a shell on a machine with Windows OS. So no i can't imagine it does anything on a mac..
