Did Chell die at the end of the game? What do you think

I read somthing online about that Chell could have possibly died at the end of Portal 2. At the end of the game you are going up the elavator just before GLaDOS called you a lunatic then you meet the turets that dont fire at you but sing. And when you get out of aperture you are in a wheat field when in the first game you you're in the aperture science parking lot in some forest and it also said that in greek mythology you go to a wheat field when you die. So i think the first row of turrets shot Chell and killed her.

I read that, and first of all the ending is NOTHING like Greek mythology. But it still sounded like a cool theory.

But here's the real answer: No. A couple of reasons for this:

1) You can see Rattman running in the backround among the turrets in the turret opera, for one thing. Why he'd be present in the background of a chorus sending you into the afterlife is a bit odd.

2) The creators confirmed that she's alive and she's escaped.

I would think no. My reasoning is the fact that GLaDOS send up the companion cube. She did this as a final thank you for helping her. Chell didn't really care about the companion cube the way rat man did (proof is in his wall drawings) so why would this happen? If it was heaven, then only stuff she loved would be there. Just a guess.

If you own Portal 2 on Steam, the Rattman comic should be included in the game. If not, just look it up online, you'll find it easily (google "Rat Man comic"). He's the guy scrawling cryptic messages on the walls-the "the cake is a lie" guy.

She didn't die, Carolyn couldn't kill her child. IMO.

One, it's Caroline. I know it's not traditionally pronounced, but that's how it's spelled. Also, we don't know for sure if Caroline (or if GLaDOS is still her) is the mother of Chell and there are evidence to disprove that.

Two, that's not Rattman. It was a Frankenturret that was hobbling across the stage while the turrets were singing. I suggest replaying the video before trying to say otherwise.

Three, it's highly likely that Chell did not die, because GLaDOS felt sympathy and has admitted to it in the Coop campaign. In the Peer Review, GLaDOS has also mentioned Chell briefly later in the story, and refers to her as still living.

i dont think she died because she was LOOKING around the wheat field and saw the companion cube appear from the elevator.

I think that while she didn't die at the end of the game... she will probably die, she has not been a part of society for how many years now? She most likely won't fit in and will become some mute hobo that dies of starvation on the corner of some street IF she even finds civilization at all. If she doesn't find civilization well, she's in this massive wheat field ( with absolutley nothing on the horizon from what I remember) with nothing at all to help her survive, I wouldn't be surprised if she starved or something.

Sorry for such a nagative post, it's just realistically how I think things would play out for her.

No, it's Rattman. I've seen it msny, many times, both in game and on youtube. It's a hunched figure holding a companion cube on his back.

While the Greek mythology idea ties in well with other parts of the game (the Oracle Turret refers to the story of Prometheus in Chapter 5), it seems unlikely that GLaDOS would kill Chell at the end of the game. GLaDOS herself admitted to hearing her conscience after discovering that she was Caroline.

To sum up, I think Chell didn't die, because GLaDOS's human half (Caroline) was awoken during the game.

It is really a Frankenturret. I had seen it on YouTube, Ratman was never seen in Portal and Portal 2. Why would Valve put Ratman at the end of the game and only in the background where he is hardly seen? Also, if it is Ratman, why would he "walk" so awkward? He is doing little jumps just like a Frankenturret. That's why I think it is a Frankenturret.

chell did not die and there is a wheat field cuz GLaDOS is in a different spot and portal and portal 2 are 20 yrs apart and chell can find civillization cuz portal and portal 2 take place during the events of hl, hl2, hl2 ep 1 and ep 2. it is a frankenturret cuz rattman doesent carry the compainion cube like dat.

It actully is a Frankenturret if you look closley you can see that its kind of hobbling and you can see the shape of a turret.
