Portal 2
Oh fiddle sticks! What now?
I hear that sound whenever i press the use key or interact with an object or item. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to fix this if possible?

I searched around the internet for you, is it this sound?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOxeiAu5RDo

It plays whenever a sound file whice is supposed to be played is missing, you should try to verify your game files, it will then download anything that is missing.

To do this, right click on the portal 2 "icon" in your steam library and choose properties, after this, select the "Local Files" tab and click on "Verify intergity of game cache" after that, just let steam load and when its done, it should say that some files are missing and that they are being downloaded, if this dosent work, just tell me here!

By the way, that sound is from Half-life 2!

Did you use GCFscape to copy HL2 maps into the Portal cache (that is a trick to use the portal gun in HL2) ?

I know where the sound plays. There is a cheat code to shoot rockets in the game. When I entered the Aperture Science Innovators section of the game (after GLaDOS gets pecked by the bird), there is a section where there is water everywhere. Shoot a rocket in the water (anywhere), and the sound will play once it explodes. Random find is random, but it explains the sound, now.

Yeah, mine still isn't working. I verified the game files, but somehow it made it worse, deleting where I spawned, and misplacing an in-game mechanic and it STILL doesn't work.

this post is from 2012.

the sound effect (error.wav) is the sound equivalent of the glowing red "ERROR" model, when the game tries to play a sound effect that it doesn't have, it plays the fiddlesticks sound instead. i imagine its there so developers immediately know something is wrong since its pretty hard to miss.
