Steam cards a good idea for the market?

Do you guys think is was a good idea for Steam to make the new cards purchaseable on the Steam market?

it's a great way for steam to earn some pocket cash since they earn via fees for every item sold. I actually was given a good headstart with some emotes so everything I got did not come out of my pocket. Most likely will have to pay for the final badge of HL2 though.
