Chapter 5 Conveyor Belt Glitch - Cannot Get Through

Hi everyone, I've encountered an odd glitch in my Portal 2 game I just downloaded from Steam the other day. In chapter 5, when I reach the moving conveyor belt, the walls of parts that you have to pass by are so close together that it is impossible to get by them. I seem to be stuck. I've watched a few let's plays to compare and clearly see that the boards are farther apart in their game and can simply be walked past. Screencaps:

Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how can it be resolved? Thanks so much.

That's not a glitch. You ride the belt a little bit. When you're near the welding robots, there is a platform on your left. You have to jump to it.

He's saying the moving sheets of metal before all of that are too close, disallowing him to pass. strange, i've never encountered it.

hi guys, thanks for your replies. i did some serious hunting online and found that at least one other person had this issue:

what i did was "verify integrity of game cache" and then load my game from a chapter 4 save. when i got back to the conveyor belt in chapter 5, the metal sheets were magically farther apart so i could pass by them. no idea why or how this happened.
