Portal 2 stuck after valve screen

Hi guys, recently bought portal 2, it freezes the whole pc after the initial valve loading screen. all drivers are up to date, verified the integrity of the files... anyone else know how to fix this? thanks

Having the same problem! Have tried re-installing and shutting down the computer as well as running in administrator mode AND compatability mode...nothing works!

same thing... its driving me nuts and valve are being funny about replying to mail i sent them in 2014 - im currently trawling forums for an answer. any ideas?

Hey there. I suggest for you to veryfy the integrity of your game cache. Go to library > right click on portal 2 >properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache. Wait for the loading and thats it. run the game normally.

tried and tested, usually sorts the problems but not this time

cheers for the link, it looks like its be a driver issue but im Nvidia graphics card says the drivers are up to date, double checking windows drivers just now.

you wanna know how to fix it well its pretty easy buy a good computer dont use an old laptop when you buy a game check to make sure your computer can support it

ive got a good computer.... 3.4 G QC I5, 12Gb ram, 2Gb GTX660 ti. so im pretty sure it can.

Gosh, I keep getting the same thing.

The Portal 2 used to work fine (my friend shared the access to me). Now I bought the game, and it get's stuck to the load screen after the Valve's logo.

None of these things work.

hey man, i found out it was my avast anti virus, try disabling / un-installing yours briefly and running it to see if it works

Like really, that was Avast. Thanks a lot. Avast has disabled some other games, too.
