Chell - Who is she really? [Contains some spoilers]
I'm sure a discussion like this has been held before, but I was looking at the dates spread out over the old Aperture Centre, and was thinking about the Gels. Then, when listening more carefully to Cave for the umpteenth time, I realised - Chell is immune to all the gels. Cave said before NOT to get covered in the repulsion gel due to it's nasty side effects. Chell gets covered, nothing happens. Then, with the portability gel, you get moon rock poisoning from being in contact with it, yet Chell never appears to get ill. Then I thought back to the beginning, when Chell woke up to Wheatley at the door. She had clearly been asleep for many, MANY years. Though GLaDOS does insult Chell often, I don't think she was lying when she said Chell had gained weight. Any normal person would have died from such a long sleep. What I'm thinking is, what if Chell was cloned? Or maybe even made into a robot copy of herself? I know it sounds ridiculous, but considering similar occurences happened before, such as Caroline being put into GLaDOS, it would be possible, wouldn't it? We also see that glass breaks plenty of times throughout the game, and Chell would likely be hit by at least ONE shard, so why no scars, or at least bloodied ones, like a normal Human would have? Please, post what you think on this matter. It really surprised me when the thought of Chell's immunity to all these things struck me.

Well, in the first game, she does bleed. So she was at least a mostly normal person then.

Or maybe being brain damaged counteracts the effects of the illness, or makes her not even realise she's ill.

Maybe GLaDOS put her in some kind of hallucionation?

I know she may have (though unfortunately I have never played the game, I know it's ending), so she could actually have been killed in the end, rather than placed back into the centre. This is also what I'm talking about - in the second game, we are given signs as to who Chell really was.

Also, GLaDOS specifically pointed out in the credits that Chell could not be offered immortality. For all know, she already could be. This point could be considered a little far-fetched, but think about that - after all, GLaDOS seems to like putting a lot of hidden messages in the games. (Black Mesa, etc...)

Maybe. But, like Harichi said:

It could be the brain damage, or otherwise the unnaturally long period of sleep she had (Although I said that NORMAL human beings can't sleep for that long, Chell isn't exactly normal is she?) creating hallucinations, or making the real non-existant and vice-versa.
