what is beta code?

right click portal 2 go to properties then betas then it'll ask you to put in a beta acces code and i looked everywhere i couldnt find a beta access code someone tell me what it is?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Youd don't have to enter in an access code in order to opt into the beta, Just select the Beta from the dropdown menu and close the game Properties menu window.

If you are a Valve playtester they (ONLY they) will send you the access code. You won't find it anywhere.

they dont do portal betas any more except bug fixes

I wasn't a play tester or anything or putin any codes but then I bought the game in March then one day I checked the beta's and have 3 different betas (beta, demo_viewer and Previews_release

they are just older versions not the code ones just close to completion ones that havent changed much thats why they are public
