Can't you understand?
Most of the time, when a test subject gets in contact with the companion cube, test subject doesn't complete the chamber due he has been with the companion cube for too long. After the test subjects had been in contact with the companion cube for few hours starts to talk it, what it looks like that he is having a normal conversation. If the test subject sees "his" companion cube get vaporized (killed), some go insane, others commit suicide.
So yes, Companion cubes are evil and you should stay away from it.
