Portal 2 has partial controller support, not full.

I found out that it is impossible to complete Portal 2 with a controller. Literally. You could only do it by cheating. I know this because I spent a bit of time in the first propulsion gel test chamber. Using the propulsion gel, I couldn't get enough force to reach the platforms I was supposed to get to, causing me to die in the final part where I had to fling myself through a set of portals to reach the elevator. I didn't make it and fell into the liquid abyss.

I spent quite a bit of time searching why this was on the web. I even started to make a post about it. But then I thought to stop using the controller and instead use my keyboard. And to my amazment and utter frustration... it worked.

I am very unimpressed at this. I guess I'm glad that the game's not broken and that I didn't have to resort to using cheats, but now I am very annoyed and it's probably going to ruin the rest of my Portal experience.

I know why it happened. Pushing the thumbstick doesn't make Chell go as fast as if you were to push the W key on the keyboard. So, is there anyway to change this? Even in the console-a code to increase the speed Chell goes when you push the thumbstick in a direction?

I've been using an xbox 360 controller and the only problem I've had with the propulsion gel was periodically going slightly out of a straight line and missing the mark. Being extra careful I got past it fine.

I haven't noticed a speed problem that made it impossible just yet, I'm on the white gel atm, but I'll take your word on the speed being different. There was huge difference in walk speed in Portal between keyboard and controller (I still finished it with controller but damn she walked slow!)

Anyway, just wanted to say you don't have to cheat to get past propulsion gel and propulsion/repulsion gel combo level to get the distance you need. You only have to take advantage of how you set up your portals to get extra umph. Maybe down the road I'll have an issue but not there.
