Nope. What's that?
Played
Portal 2 takes place centuries later.
Chell, the protagonist of both games, was in hibernation in the meantime.
Cave Johnson is the CEO of Aperture Science, the comically incompetent company that was initially focusing on a shower curtain technology. They solved the problem of shower curtains in a way that resulted in injuries, so a congressional hearing was held; this hearing was quickly made classified (no public allowed) when it became clear that A.S. uses portal technology on shower curtains - the government obviously wanted the technology for themselves.
A.S. is a company that has very little grasp of reality, but they love to make everything in huge sizes and scales, as clear from seeing the old (1950s - 1980s) section of A.S. Laboratory, which is kilometers beneath the surface, in huge caves.
Where did you gain this info? Please, tell me.
All I am asking is, where from. There are so many sources. I don't even know what it;'s called!
Very good. Answered some questions. But others persist.
Anyways, let's leave it at that. If anyone has a link to a good, long write-up on the lore of Portal do link me to that.
Thanks!
Well, no-one knows who Chell is. Everything about Caroline is in the game--there is a hidden portrait of her too. Have you found that? I think Chell's name is only in the Lab Rat comic and the credits. Cave's history has been retconned a lot--we only know for certain what is in the game. You can see portraits of him, and awards he won. Valve initially said he died of mercury poisoning, now we know it's moon rock poisoning. Ratman is the main character of Lab Rat which you really should read. The Borealis and alien invasion from Half-Life are also important--they are in the same universe. All you need from that though is : Aperture are rivals with Black Mesa, who caused an alien invasion. Aperture had a ship, the Borealis, which went missing--it is part of a Portal 2 Easter Egg and important to the Half-Life plot.
GLaDOS--everything that is known--I think you know most of it.
1. Cave was dying. He wanted to be uploaded into a computer but died before he could be--mentioned in Portal 2.
2. Caroline was uploaded instead--again, you know this from playing the game.
3. Something went wrong and GLaDOS killed the scientists--obvious in the games and in Lab Rat.
4. Scientists (those who were left) tried to control her with cores. It didn't work--again, obvious from both games and comic.
5. Chell, a test subject, killed her.--Portal 1
6. Accidentally brought back to life, became potato, etc.--Portal 2.
