Portal 2 won't open

Hello, i recently downloaded portal, and it will not open no matter what i do. I click play, it says its running for a few seconds and then it goes back to "play" instead of running. I've tried every fix on the internet that i could find and none of them work.

Some examples of what i've tried: restarting and updating windows, downloading the newest graphics card drivers, messing with compatibility, running both steam and portal 2 in administrator, force launching the game (this one i understood the least), and re-downloading the game. to be honest im just really stuck

If you have not reinstalled the game, install it again with the Portal 2 folder cleared (I advise you to save the SAVE folder(it is located in Portal 2/portal2) if you have played up to this point. If you made maps, then: 1) upload the maps to the workshop and download them after reinstalling. 2) save the Portal 2/portal2/maps folder and add them back after solving the problem.) If the problem persists, then I can wish you good luck in solving this problem.

Try to write -vulkan

Update: Sorry it took so long to respond, my life became a bit of a whirlwind, I tried typing in -Vulkan and it worked like a charm. Thank you :)

Don't mention it) Also I would like you to check another way that helped me. You go to local files and start portal2.exe by doing that there is a chance that you don't have to type -vulkan avoiding potential problems caused by it

It could be stutterd with fps drops and lagging

Unfortunate, I have been experiencing lag and fps drops, not that there is anything I can do about it.
