360 Controller only works in menus

When I start up a new game, none of the buttons or sticks on my 360 controller work. Although, I am able to press start and get to the menu. I can navigate the menus fine. But the controller doesn't respond while in game.

I have tried a few things already. Re-install, re-boot, unplugged controller, messed with console ettings with cmds I found here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/620/discussions/0/792923683637079508/

I have in the past tried to mess with the control settings to work with split screen.
I am thinking there is something I can type into the console to get it to work.

Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks!

I fixed it by typing joy_remap_player_for_controller1 1 in the console
