Who is Prometheus?

In Portal 2 a defective turrent was talking a little bit about him and that he get punished by the gods, but now I want to know it better! So: Who is Prometheus and what happened to him?

Well in greek mythology Prometheus is the one who gave humans the ability to create fire. Perhaps it's an allegory to someone/something that gave the turrets their "fire". Perhaps GLaDOS, perhaps something else.

I think it was the greek guy who suposedly gave humans fire. I think Zues chained him to the mountain, and a raven came and ate his liver every day. Gross, I know. Same guy?

Prometeus was a Titan. He gave mankind knowledge, fire and the ability to progress their technology and civilizations. He was a trickster, and for his crime Zeus sentenced him to eternal torment, an eagle would come each day, eat his liver, then the liver would grow back to be eaten the next day and so on. It's rather greusome, but soz Greek mythology.

The turret that you're talking about is often called the Oracle turret, because it cryptically predicts the future events. The prometheus line refers to GLaDOS, as she is "cast into the bowels of the Earth and pecked by birds". There is more info on half life wikia, just google oracle turret.
