i appreciate the solution you have found and will try it.... but i can't really believe valve havn't patched this functionality into the game.... you'd think with getting this ready for steam box (lots of local co-op potential) that this would be an obvious addition to the game.... the workshop stuff is one of the great boons of pc gaming.... surely having the community maps for both single player and local co-op accessibe is a perfect way to differentiate the steam box version of the game.............. come on valve, get this feature into the new beta?!!!
