I want to play the coop community chambers locally, is there a way?

It seems as thought the only way to do the coop community chambers is with someone else online. Can I do something to the file to make it playable with just my computer?

There is no AI functionality in Portal 2, so no, you can't play them by yourself. Even if you did manage to play the maps without a partner you couldn't pass any level, all of them depend on co-operation (hence the name "co-op").

No, I also want to use 2 controllers. So I would be playing with a friend sitting right next to me.

Unfortunately, through a quick search, I couldn't find out how to start community co-op maps in offline mode. I'm going to dig in to this.

this is the only letdown i have had with portal 2.... everything else is amazing .... but i really want to be able to play the community co-op maps in local-co-op as i need to ease my girlfreind into the mechanics so we can one day play the co-op campaign...

i appreciate the solution you have found and will try it.... but i can't really believe valve havn't patched this functionality into the game.... you'd think with getting this ready for steam box (lots of local co-op potential) that this would be an obvious addition to the game.... the workshop stuff is one of the great boons of pc gaming.... surely having the community maps for both single player and local co-op accessibe is a perfect way to differentiate the steam box version of the game.............. come on valve, get this feature into the new beta?!!!

How's that got to do with this? We were talking about community chambers not officially supported in splitscreen, NOT the official co-op. That guide does not cover how to play community chambers in splitscreen mode, I should know.

Hey thanks guys! I'll have to deal with that annoyance forever I guess. In order to download the map file, you have to actually start the map with someone else online and then just end the connection :/
