Motion sickness.
Does anyone have any tips on how i can stop getting it when playing portal, i can barley play for half an hour before it becomes unbearable.

Hmm, this is a tough one. Have you tried disabling motion blur?

Valve was so nice to make it extremely difficult for you to turn motion blur (the likely suspect) off in Portal 2. This thread of mine contains all you need to know:

Motion blur is a stupid feature anyway, since it works against the natural perception of the brain and tries to outsource/emulate that function onto the screen, which, by nature, cannot work properly and becomes confusing.

I just got the game and I can't play it either because of motion sickness. T.T
This would happen all the time when I played Halo so I ended up not playing it at all. Funny thing is, on wikipedia it says that in a study 50% the people who played Halo felt sick after playing for less than an hour (ofcourse the 50% is limited to the people who were in the study) but I guess lots of people get motion sickness while playing first person shooter type games.

To add onto my previous comment for some games changing the field of view could make it better but I don't think you have the option to do that in portal.

You can change the fov using the 'cl_fov <number>' console command.

I don't get it, but try sitting higher than your moniter. Studies show that helps.

Yeah I do that a lot nowadays, it's pretty helpful :)

damn me and my extremely attractive and real girlfriend had that two with portal2.
I never experienced that before in any other game of the 200 that I've played on steam
and after setting everything to off or low in the settings (with did not help at all)
and adjusting the contrast of my monitor to 0 I got better and now am able to play that boring ass game if you play it alone and no longer with your super giga gf that goes to a different school (she real guys)
but my gif (with IS real) still has the same problem and now I will ask her to check if sitting further away and above the screen helps her.

Did it help her?
