Is Chell human?
The game (and the final scene) kind of made me think that Chell might be an android with a human girl's memory implanted, like Gladdos.

I think she's a cyborg clone. Organic with some added AS tech.

Would explain how you can use things you learned by dieing in order to solve puzzles.

Ok guys... srry to ruin it all but here's some facts:

-Caroline is your mom.

-Cave is your dad.

-Caroline is GLaDoS.

-GLaDoS is your mom.

-Chell is their daughter.

-Chell is human. 100%.

Maybe she didn't escape the neurotoxin during Bring your Daughter to Work Day, but GLaDOS soon realized she needed humans to be able to test, and so she collected the DNA and scanned the brains of the corpses and recreated everyone as test subjects.

Actually, Chell was in cryostasis on the Bring your Daughter to Work day... so yeah. GLaDoS was looking for test subjects for sure, and she just took the first one on the list (which was Chell because of Rattman tricks). Rattman was sure Chell could defeat GLaDoS because of her origines (Cave Johnson), so he put her on top of the test subject list. GLaDoS was supposed to see the first test subject die in a few hours, then she would had took someone else. But Chell was so good at tests, she didnt die and she defeated GLaDoS.

So... Chell was all that time in cryostasis cell. GLaDoS didnt have influence on these cells, so it's hard to believe Chell would had been transformed into an AI. Also, if Chell was an AI, GLaDoS could end it's system at any moment. Tho, she didnt. Even when she was fighting against her.

So:

-Chell is from human parents.
-She was in cryostasis while GLaDoS killed everyone.
-She wasn't under the control of GLaDoS, well we didnt see any hint of any control on her.

Of course, we can't be sure. But I personnally think Chell is human 100%.

Why was Chell placed on cryostasis if GLaDOS was trying to kill everyone?



And no, I don't believe GLaDOS was really trying to kill Chell; I believe in the first game she was teaching Chell everything she needed to know in order to kill GLaDOS, and then making her think that was the right thing to do.

Then when she realized that wouldn't work in P2, she set Chell free so at least one of them could escape the nightmare.

Ok so in your opinion... GLaDoS was teaching Chell... so she can kill her. So... GLaDoS was like: hello, sweetie, that's how you kill me. Now do it.

Pretty much.

By making Chell think she was the one wanting to kill GLaDOS, it was more guaranteed she would than if GLaDOS had just asked her to; and she might not even be able to just spell it out due to what being hooked to the main AS computer does to her personality and stuff.

Got to love how people overthink things in this game, but you can't blame anyone for that, the games backstory left deep discussion holes everywhere and everyone has a vivid idea to spread. Might as well say that Chell is an alien.

To bad some good discussion threads are gone and new comers can't look it up.

Maybe it wasn't GLaDOS, but Caroline setting Chell in the path to free her from her robotic, mad prision. Like, we don't even know if Caroline actually wanted to be turned into GLaDOS

Oh my god the portal story is so confusing due to so many theories and theres a comic that is directed to the game (It's official) and due to portal 1 and 2 and there's just a huge theory on what the game is basically the storyline. Actually she didnt want to be put into GLaDoS... that's why GLaDoS is in madness. Cause they put a mad mind into a robot... so the robot is mad forever
