Chell basicly bathed in this stuff in the game. Valve even sort of forced you to, in "The Part Where He Kills You" when you are escaping the platform.

After Chell left Aperture, could Chell be terminally ill soon after?

Probably not, for some reason chell didn't really get terminally ill, maybe Cave Johnson was allergic to it or had different contact with it.

my guess is that Cave Johnson probably had contact with the gel for much longer and many times, and Chell only had a few short moments with it.
(but I don't think he did any tests himself, maybe just by staying close to it for too long or something)

Chell is dying due to gel exposure, and her only hope is to return to Aperture to find a cure, if one even exists in the first place? GLaDOS will probably try to kill Chell if she sees her?
Now there's a plot for Portal 3 if I ever heard one.

GLaDOS pretty much said she was done trying to kill chell, as she had atlas and peabody to deal with, and they did find all those humans for her after all.. Which she of course, promptly killed through testing. Now the bird eggs that she was raising.... The clone army.....

There isn't gonna be Portal 3, not with Chell at least. They finished the story, if HL3 will come out then it will cover up a part of the hidden story of Portal 2 and the connection between the two games but other than that Valve is done with portal.

Would chell possibly have bathed in it so much that her body had developed an immunity to it?

chell would have bathed in it for sure, the 1984 test chamber where all you have to work with is moon gel. The chamber where we get the lemons speech. She would have had more exposure to it than cave did. Cave does say about ground up moon rocks, not the gel. Implying the moon dust is poison, not the end product,

The time chell got out of Aperture science (portal2) is happening around the time hl2 happends. Black mesa failed at the same time as Aperture had thier problems with Gladoos. If you listen closely to Gladoos in Portal1 while fighting her she tels you "If you knew what happened outside you would have stayed anyways" Gladoos said something like that and that's because of what Black Mesa did to the world. Me and my friend has discussed some stuff and we don't know for sure how long Chell has been sleeping between portal1-2 but HL2 happends like 10 years after Black Mesa incident (portal1 time) if i'm not wrong. Or Portal2 is so far ahead in time that they have already saved Earth from Combine and restored normal life or something like it.

Why would you think hl2 and portal 2 happen at the same time, they are, at the least, millions of years apart. As far as we can tell, portal 2 occurs at some apocalypse sort of time. Hl2 happens around present day or in a couple of years. Also, black mesa did nothing to the world. All they did was create a "resonance cascade" (a phrase made up by valve) which opened the portal to the Xen, thus letting the combine and all sorts of aliens through. As far as we can tell, black mesa didn't do crap besides blowing up some parts of the black mesa research facility. Finally, it's not ten years that chell has been sleeping. In the intro, you can clearly see that in the first waking up scene, it has been 50 years. In the second part of the intro, it has been 99999999- *bzzzt* years. I'm not sure if you have even played the half life series or the portal series at all.

I think Chell is a cybernetically enhanced clone. The boots couldn't have protected her from everything she has survived, and unless you're a genius, you've learned a few things by dieing, which could suggest Chell learned things by dieing, which means she was either revived somehow, or just simply had her mind backuped in real time and implanted in a new body in the event of a mistake.

Not to mention she is in amazing shape for someone only receiving that pityful workout routine and then sleeping the rest of the time.

have played both but it's easily misunderstanded because i'm norwegian and it's a long time since i played portal1 so did not know that she slept 50 years back there. And i have actually played almost all of the hl games (half-life 1, half-life opposing force, half-life blue shift, hl2-ep1-2 and Black Mesa Reemake)
