Portal 2.
Portal was a test by Valve to try out new gameplay mechanics.
It's basically one big tutorial for Portal 2.

Portal was a good game and has interesting puzzles, but Portal 2 is by far a much better game. As mentioned before by DirtyFishy, Portal was a test by Valve and is like a tutorial for Portal 2. If you want a full grasp of the story play Portal, but Portal 2 is better in terms of game mechanics.

Portal 2 was, in my opinion, a stronger game. longer, more characters, improved mechanics, and even more of the GLaDOS brand humor we came to love from the first. It improves and builds on what the first one began with, perfected it, and tied up (almost) all loose ends.

Portal 2. Even though Portal was fun, Portal 2 has that touch in a steam game where you know Valve will never create a third, just to drive us crazy.

Portal 1 was the best. and here's why. It started as just a placeholder to fill up the orange box, made by a small group of people, it was edgy, fun and introduced so many wonderful mechanics. By the time Portal 2 rolled around, the entire team took over, making it less a fun adventure of dark humor and more a sight seeing adventure through aperature with so many gimmicks it got annoying after a while. I'm not saying i dont enjoy Portal 2, far from it. but in a comparison Portal 1 is far superior.

PORTAL 2 by far because it actually has more than 2 characters :O. It has great graphics and no blood.

Portal 2 have a more complex story than Portal 1.

Portal 1 was more difficult, Portal 2 has better visuals, story and more mechanics. However, it is the workshop that makes Portal 2 that much better.
