Actually...interesting.
To build on the moon being important, while playing maps made from other players Cave Johnson says several times that they are on the moon performing tests (he often mentions the testers are prisoners, I believe.) This could mean Aperture has a secret base on the moon, which they would have to have some sort of operation there to collect all the moon rocks, and it must have been done excessively and/or CJ was there himself, thus his cancer.
Perhaps we will just never know how important the moon is or the truth about Borealis until a trilogy is released...
It's not, the borealis is on Earth, the arctic pole.[img3.wikia.nocookie.net]
Thanks, just sharing my ideas.
SilentDecay,
You bring up some really great points, none that I can argue against. Just out of curiosity though where do we find out that GLaDOS signed the paperwork? Thank you for the insight.
A-06,
Sorry for the lack of specificity, it references Black Mesa because in the Ratman comic Black Mesa is said to have gone to the moon. Also it is said that the Borealis is in the Arctic region; however, that does not mean it could not have warped again. Also other than one picture of the Borealis in a bad wreck that Valve released, there isn't really any proof that it is there. For all we know they could think it's there and then find out it is not.
Brassqund,
I am sorry if I offended you with my poor grammar, I was attempting to release my ideas in a steady flow to see the opinions of others, not listen to Grammar Nazi's gripe.
How do we know that GLaDOS is not hiding the Borealis on the moon? As stated by SilentDecay,
So easily GLaDOS could be hiding it there; however I have not played Thinking with Time Machine so I do not know that aspect of it. I honestly do not understand where you came up with that, it is commonly assumed that it is in the Arctic.
It's a bit more than just "a picture that valve released". In Half-Life 2: Episode 2, there was this long important scene where Kleiner or someone was all like "We found the Borealis in the North/South pole (i forgot which one it was)" and they had video footage of it on a large screen and it was there and this is canon.
So yeah, definitely in one of the poles.
