Do turrets think?
in portal 2 at the end SPOILERS when GLaDOS decides to let you go, it looks like you have been tricked when you are brought to a chamber with turrrets aiming right you. although oddly they start singing in a chior as if they are sorry for trying to hurt you. have you thought why that happened, maybe GLaDOS arranged it or maybe something stranger? What do you think??

It might not be that she understands it, she just makes it seem like she understands. I mean there are more dangerious creatures in the Half-Life universe but GladOS is pretty deceptive.

I know but why does she talk about you breaking her heart and feeling you tear her to pieces in still alive?

She could be just messing with you?Much like how Shodan messes with you in System Shock 2 and how Metaltron messes with Rose to touch it's casing to regenerate it.
Thought i'd give a few examples when talking about creatures that are more dangerious than GladOS in the Half-Life universe. Aswell as the obvious which is the combine, there's also RaceX, headcrabs and baricles of Xen aswell as the vortigaunts, alien grunts and controllers because they actually try to kill you themselves.

I think that when Aperture discovered that they could upload peoples minds into computers they understood how to make A.I's that could feel pain and emotions.

AI's that can feel emotion is really redundent

Well, I think they do. There are mentions of Turret Hell, and the normal Turrets and the defected Turrets seem sentient (defected Turrets seem more sentient, however). Then again, any sentient being, AI or not, would still be able to know that defected Turrets being incinerated isn't very fair, yet they show no petty.

By redundent i mean that an AI is designed to feel emotion so that it cn react, so by saying an AI that can feel emotion you are just wasting your words.

GUYS AND GALS! We have forgotten a HUGE piece of the puzzle! The oracle turret! GLaDOS did not do any thing to this turret because BEFORE you wake her up in Portal 2 you can find it in a transportation tube, so the turret has not been given orders by GLaDOS to do any thing but it is seemingly sentient. Its dialouge seems to corrospond with what the player dose, also being like that dosent have any benefit to GLaDOS, so if it it is not sentient that raises other questions like why would it act that? How did it act like that? is it really self aware? Is it sending a message from someone else? If so then who?? SO MUCH UNKOWN! sorry for caps :P
It could just be a faulty turret that passed the production line

It could also of been reprogrammed by Ratman, like how Alyx reprogrammed Combine turrets in Nova Prospekt.

I am not sure how she survived, but I think ratttman had something to do with it. in the comic portal 2:Lab Ratt it reveals that he put chell at the top of the list for testing, he probably protected chell's chamber as well.
all of the test subjects survived after the neurotoxin, ratmann just edited the list so that Chell would be first in hope that she would stop GLaDOS(portal 1 begins)In a long period of time between portal 1 and 2 main power sources run out (thats then Chell wakes up the first time),and ratman, due to being shot by a turret, only enables the backup power source only for Chell before passing out. When Chell woke up,all power sources ran out

You make Ratman comparable to the universe's main mistory man, G-Man.

Ratman sounds very similar to G-man, not just because they have man in their name but because their personalities, the difference is you actually get to see G-Man but not Ratman.

G-Man is short for Goverment Man,and from its looks its not a guy that you can see in biohazardious facilities.
While Rat Mann is one of the employees, and the only reason of he's sirvival is that he was somewhere the neurotoxin was unable to react when glados was activated
