Black Screen at the very end of the game

I've checked the old forums, and I know that this has something probably to do with just how it runs on PC, but right after Wheatly says "The End", the game just cuts to hard black. No crashing, no return to the main play page, just Black. Is there a fix, or am I just gonna be irritated by the fact that I'll never be able to completely finish Portal 2?

just press ESC then press back to the main menu and you still get the new main menu

No if I press that the game just closes. And when I load it back up I am back to the final scene where you have to shoot at the moon.

I'm probably late to the party, but I just finished the game and had the same problem. For me, what worked was going to the properties and in the Betas section choose previous_release. I relaunched the game and played through the ending again. When Wheatley says The End, it sends me right back to the main menu! Hope it helps :)

Edit: another solution (to avoid having to stay in a beta version) is one I found on GitHub. Changing the video settings to: windowed, shader detail not on Very High, wait for vertical sync Disabled (I tried ll at the same time, not sure which one worked, if any worked at all) and pausing during the end credits cutscene. When the screen cuts to black, pressing Back to Main Menu actually brought me to the main menu with Wheatley floating in space!

play in windowed mode and press escape to go back to the menu. worked for me

(following the github version) thing is, while that works, when i close out after doing so and then re open it, it goes back to how it was before- no space wheatley, and the continue option. its like it wont register that i finished the game for some reason and im honestly stumped in what to do.
