Launching Portal 2 in VR

How do I play Portal 2 in VR? When I launch it it plays fine on the computer screen but how do I send it to my VR headset?

Did you correctly install the mod files and set the launch options?

I followed the above instructions.. but it simply starts on the computer and says before the game starts that it does not support VR.

note:

1. Download Portal2VR.zip and extract the files to your Portal 2 directory (steamapps\common\Portal 2)

2. Connect your headset, then launch Portal 2 with these launch options:

-insecure -window -novid +mat_motion_blur_percent_of_screen_max 0 +mat_queue_mode 0 +mat_vsync 0 +mat_antialias 0 +mat_grain_scale_override 0 -width 1280 -height 720

3. At the menu, feel free to change these video settings.

4. Load into a chapter.

the menu loads and I can change settings but it's only on my PC. I have Oculus cable connected & Steam V.R is running fine.

When unzipping the VR mod it states it should go here -
To your Portal 2 directory ( steamapps\common\Portal 2 )

I have done that but still it does not load in VR mode.

Opps! Just found out Portal 2 is not a VR game. Bugger, I requested a refund, hope I get it

It is perfectly fine playabale in full VR. Just install the unofficial VR port. Simple as that.

Can you try to launch SteamVR and start the game from the headset (you'll probably have to look for it in the non-vr section)?

If it doesn't work can you send some screenshot of your game folder and the launch options you set to make sure everything is set properly?

@ Gary... Portal 2 itself is not VR ready... there's a VR "Mod" that allows you to play it ... you need to install the mod that's located on GitHub

I have a oculus quest 2 and the only way for me to run the game is through steamvr and then the game through theatre as a launch option, is this the intended way to play the game?

Is there any way to change the settings as when i try in the game it will not take my keyboard and mouse inputs, so i cannot apply the changes. Also, is there any way to have the vr view on your desktop as well?

what do you mean by extract the files into your portal 2 directory? I extracted the mod folder and put all its content into the portal 2 directory and nothing happened
