1: it seems a lot like a rant or a rage, calm down
2: yest there would be no point in continuing the same plot based around the same characters, HOWEVER that doesn't mean that there can't be another story set in the same universe, let's not forget that it's in the same universe as half-life, that aalready gives it a lot of possibilities to expand
3: there are countless examples of stories/shows etc that remain whithin the same universe yet work with countless books etc, a good example of this is star wars... there are over 50 books and it's still ongoing, this proves that they could make a successful portal 3 game if they go about it the right way
4: yes, the story can revolve around atlas and p-body but it doesn't have to revolve around one disappearing, that would be pointless but for example it could be about them developing more human emotions and doubts, which would lead to glados trying to scrap them... then try to liberate all the human test subjects found in the end of portal 2 coop... it's definitely a possibility for a good story for portal 3.
5: if you have a goose that lays golden eggs, you make damn well sure it lays as many of those eggs as it can, portal was a huge hit, portal 2 was even more successful, having said that a company whose revenue is based on selling games won't just stop at 1 successful sequel, I think they'll want to keep this series going for as long as they can... sadly often this means that EVENTUALLY they'll make a crappy one...
That is true, I completely agree with your point, however the point that I was trying to make is that valve is a company, a company's aim is to make money, therefore all of their decisions they make (including whether to make a sequel or not) will revolve around whether they will make money or not, having said that, portal 1 and 2 wever very successful and therefore the company might be willing to make sequels that will sell (they know it will sell since the previous two had sold so well) in order to make more money... you're thinking about this game series as an actual series and about the quality however the company thinks of it a a source of money... if it makes more money, do it, everything else doesn't matter... just look at how many unnecessary videogame sequels have been made in this past decade, the best example of this is of course, COD... one game was good enough but it kept selling to they kept making more and more "sequels"...
I nver said that I wanted that to happen, all I'm saying is that with the way companies are run these days it's a likely scenario
