Portal 2

Was the wheat field and Moon fake?
Doesn't really add up with the fact that the Outside world was invaded by aliens, water levels dropped, resources being drained, ecosystem collapse, yet Chell steps out to see a blue sky and thriving fields of wheat, and our glimpse of Earth during the final battle, it looked like the Combine never even invaded, argh, Valve, why must you be so ambigious?

I don't think Chell being kicked into a world overrun by combine would've made for a very happy ending, and that's all Valve really cares about.
half life 2 takes place like 20 years after half life, right?
well portal 2 takes place like 50,000 years, more or less, after portal.
so for 50000 years everything can happen, like, Resistance could have ended Combine and returned peace to earth[/spoilers]

But the oceans were partially drained, human population severely dropped, resources depleted, genocide, morality crushed, ecosystem wrecked, if Humanity can survive all of that, they would probably revert to a primitive society. And it was actually said in the Hours of Portal 2 book that it was "originally" put 50, 000 years into the future away from Half-Life story, meaning there could of been a change in the script, but it could of just been 20 years, and Portal likely takes place just after the 7 hour war, meaning Portal 2 could be during Half-Life 2, after all Aperture was untouched for a LONG time, GLaDOS was destroyed, it wasn't maintained well enough and could of exposed the facility to the elements, causing rust, deterioation, decay, especially if Aperture is located in a place like Upper Michigian, and the ecosystem gone to 'shi*' after the Combine take what they can out of Earth. Because thinking about it, wouldn't the Earth take dramatic changes in 50, 000 years? 50, 000 years ago Earth was nothing like it is today, it wouldn't be a blue green marble anymore, if that's how much time has passed. And even more so, after the Combine invasion, 50, 000 years later, Earth would be sucked dry of it's resources, barren rock, permament damage. But that's not what it looks like in Portal 2, does it?

There is no Happy ending for Chell, well, maybe, but it depends on how you view it, Chell has no human life to interact with, only her Companion Cube, in an endless wheat field, in the middle of practically nowhere, her parents likely dead, a life of conspiracy (if you buy into the theory that Chell was adopted by Black Mesa spies) the World not the same place it was for her years ago, and I imagine she'd suffer a great deal of psychological damage from the events in Portal and Portal 2, like GLaDOS said, things have changed since she last left the building, maybe it's better for her to stay inside away from the whole 'Freeman' fiasco?
I don't know, just my thoughts.

I have (just) a feeling that it's all a dream. It's too surreal. GLaDOS suddenly going all "you're my best friend" (I remember myself being like "is this serious?"), the turret opera, the wheat field... She did pass out after the moon so maybe she's just dreaming... U know how dreams work - they based on things we see during the daylife - and it's all there - GLaD becoming more friendly in the underground, or maybe Chell just feels like she wants to be friends with her after they had to work together, and cubes, and Wheat :) and turrets - u can see the fat (diva) turret in game, as well as those promo videos for animal king :steamfacepalm:, and all she wanted is to get out so she dreams about it (that may also be why GLaD is friendly - 'cause she'd let her go then), and maybe the song is smth her parents sang to her while she was little (parents were brought up too)...
Anyway this is just a feeling and I've seen someone mention that devs confirmed that Chell's outside so... yeah idk why i typed this i just want a testing partner i'm out
I doubt it was a dream sequence, and GLaDOS was only acting 'nice' due to Caroline, who she deleted, promptly, after finding where she is.

Raaaah it's torturing me for 5 years now.
You have no idea of how much i will loose control of my body if one day I learn that Portal 3 is confirmed.

'Cause yeah, I'm more excited for Portal 3 than HL3.
Finnaly! Somepony who shares my beliefs! I have waited so long for this!
Well, I'd like another Portal game, as long as it has a new story, fresh start, but I'd be more excited by HL3 than a Portal 3.

While reading this I got a question myself. If the moon was real, how can it be just behind a few panels? The test chambers are underground, aren't they? In the 'behind the scenes' of chambers there's no visible sky.

And would the sky really look like that in 50, 000 years? hell, would the Earth look as it did in such a span of time?

Well, look, GLaDOS at the end said that she doesn't want Chell anymore, because, if you didn't hear in the 9th chapter, Wheatley had found ATLAS and P-Body, and GLaDOS was trying to "phase out human testing"

Wheatly could have moved the "lair" closer to the surface. We can see that the chambers can move and that Wheatly doesn't exactly have the most solid reasoning for doing things.

True, but that doesn't mean that would be the end of playing mind games with her, mentally abusing her, it's the kind of relationship they have.

I don't think GLaDOS cares about Chell at all. Not in the slightest. She is just a problem, and GlaDOS resolved it. It may be their relationship but that is not intentional on her part.

Obviously, but the ending song 'Want You Gone' sounds like some kind of Break up Ex GF song.

Hrmm...good point. It sounds to me more like she was losing her favorite toy though. And in a way she was.
