Portal 2

App Crash on Startup
I installed Portal 2 on a new PC and it ran fine for a few days. Today is will not load after clicking "PLAY". It attempts to run and then Windows gives me an app crash error. I have tried applying Beta verions to Steam, as was suggested in a different forum, and also validating the app cache. Not sure what to do at this point to get the game back up and running.

Re-install the game then. That usually works

As RexTheCapt said, reinstalling the game will work. I've had games do that sometimes.

If you don't want to reinstall, try validating the files.

To validate files:

1. Right click Portal 2 in your library.

2. Click "Properties".

3. Click "Local Content".

4. Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".

5. Wait until it has finished the file verification process,
and proceed to download missing files if there are any.

Actually, by this point, you probably already reinstalled.

Still though, this is a method you can use to fix your game in the future.

I guess I may have to re-install what a pain
How can the game just break like this?

I tried to re-install and it did not help. I also removed Steam entirely and re-installed and still no luck.

That is crazy, A re-Install did fix it for me, Try enabling log output & reading that to see if you can diagnose it
