Portal 2
Controller issues
I can't seem to play Portal 2 at all with my Logitech F310 Gamepad cuz the control layout is screwed up and differs from any other game.

I have my controller settings set to default Legacy layout with Legacy Mode off by default, controls are not on inverted by default either, and buttons are the default too, I can't move with the left stick because it's only making the camera move up or down, but if I use the right stick I can move and turn with it, I don't get why the layout is so screwed up on Portal 2. Dx

I want my default controller settings to work as normal as any other games I play with on Steam, cuz they all work fine without inverted controller crap.

I want my layout to be LEFT STICK to move forward and back and strafe left and right, and RIGHT STICK to move the camera around like normal like in every other game.

What I'm getting instead of my usual controls is LEFT STICK is moving camera up or down, and the RIGHT STICK moving forward and back and turning camera around, I don't want this.

I'm also wondering if this is becuase the Steam version of Portal 2 is talored for XBOX 360 Controllers only? …is there a way I can restore normal controller functions with a non-XBOX 360 Controller?

I am having the same issue with my Logitech F310 controller. Please post if you find a solution.
Was a solution ever found? I've been scouring the forums and web fo something that's not padmapper since the summer sale

I think I did eventually fix my issue, I needed to install the legacy xbox controller drivers to work with the Logitech F310 Gamepad. Just look for
xboxdrv
once installed it'll identify the controller as Generic X-Box Pad.

Is that one of those controllers with a switch on the front to change between XInput and DirectInput?

Yeah, if you're using Windows you switch it to DirectInput, if for Mac or Linux you switch it to XInput.

Have you tried switching it to the other setting, letting the drivers install, and then loading P2?

edit: Ah, I'm seeing now you said you already got it working; nvm then.

You can't use DirectInput with Mac or Linux, and you can't use XInput with Windows either, they have to be switch to their appropriate positions for it to work.

Microsoft started pushing their XBox controller standard ever since Vista (it actually already sorta started on XP, but they weren't pushing it as hard back then), trying to deprecate the more flexible DirectInput standard they used on Windows before...

Ok. Searching that looks like it's Linux instructions. I'm having this problem on Windows. Maybe I'll switch to the Xbox control, instead of direct, and see how that works
