catwalk stairs

hello everyone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i have a prob thats very troubling,,,,,,,,,,,in PORTAL 2 I can NOT make stairs from a catwalk no matter what I do,,,,,,,,,,I can make catwalks anywhere fom a to b,,,no prob
but cant for the life of me put stairs to the catwalks,,,,,,,,
can someone please explain how to make them or suggest a tutorial on how to make stairs

peti but beemod parts ( the catwalk),,,,,,,,,it says I can make stairs by puting the parts in the approriate places but i cant do it

ok, so, the way you do it is place a catwalk on the wall. Now place another one on the same wall but up a block and over two. Then connect it up via the connection thing. Load up the map and you'll have stairs. Make sure tp have the indicator lines hidden.

i just tried that NO GO!............i hanve just a basic square empty room,,,,,,,,
i put a catwalk icon on the floor and one on the wall and another on the same wall..
I conect all and only the walkway shows up

I even conected the one one the floor twice 1 on the floor and 1 on the landing,,still no go ,,,,,,
but waklway is there.........if i take awy walkway then nothing shows up........
is this a glitch,,,,,,,,,,,,,I have seen other maps with stairs in it and want to do same.....
