Portal 2 Not Responding

When I open the game my resolution changes and the game is supposedly working but I cant access it. It is in my taskbar and I cant Alt + Tab into it. If i try it does nothing and my mouse curso breaks. I have to use commands to force quit the not responding message in task manager. I have verified game files 3 times. tried putting in resoltion using launch options and I don't know what else to do... help

EDIT: Rivatuner Statistics Server was the problem. MSI Afterbruner, NZXT CAM or other monitoring/limiting performance causing source games to crash/not respond.

try windowed mode, put "-windowed" in the launch options.

Time for the generic troubleshooting but alas.

Verify integrity of game files

Right click portal 2 to find the option. If this dosent work then use can you run this to see if your pc is capable of running portal 2. Also if its your resoultion thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥ then you can try and change it out of the game by changing the files. Google is your friend OP.

I have verified it multiple times and yes my PC cannot be more capable.

I realised that Rivatuner Statistics Server was causing source games to not respond.

I literally use all of these software because they are mandatory for any serious PC user/gamer. MSI Afterburner is is obviously required for RivaTuner, and RT is the best performance overlay + framerate limiter. As for NZXT CAM, I need that to control my NZXT CPU cooler.
