problem with mic echo i co-op Portal 2

i started playing with my friend, and both have same issue. We tried to talk by steam and disscord as well, and the problem always occure. I hear my friend with echo, and he hear me with echo as well. When i turned off the volume in the game options the problem dissapeard. I could hear my friend pretty well, but couldn't enjoy the game sounds. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

And what's the problem of hearing two times his voice?

I had this issue to, went into console and i believed we typed voice_mute 1. If you already dont have developer console enabled I think its in the video or keyboard settings.
