Why won't my mouse sensitivity stick after I edit it in config file?
When I edit my mouse sensitivity in my config file to:

sensitivity "1.039137"

The edit does not stick, if I open the game then close it again the edit I made to the config file is lost and reverts back to:

sensitivity "1.194872"

I assume I'm editing the correct file: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal 2\portal2\cfg

it may be some weird stuff with steam file syncing, try using the ingame developer console to change it instead, you can find how to get it in the keyboard settings then just type "sensitivity 1.039137" into it and if that doesn't work its some problem with the game.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

If it doesn't stick after setting it in game then create a file in your Portal 2\portal2\cfg directory called autoexec.cfg and set your sensitivity in there. That file will run when you first boot the game, every time you boot the game.

I've not played since posting this so I haven't tried the console command yet but I did already try the autoexec.cfg file but that didn't work for some reason.

standard sensitivity is 4.0 you can change that with a console command sensitivity 4.0
