just a spilling my thoughts here ...and i know grammar and spelling is big stinky


you know how the whole facility is just a wreck and what not ..i personally belivie its due to not only when glados was defeated in portal 1 ((and everything is being sucked into the roof)) tho in portal 1 it should only really effect that one room and near buy ones i guess

but maybe cuz 7 hour war?

but then again maybe due the reactor but yet no warning is heard about it when glados was offline.... only when wheatly came in charge

but you may say "oh its due to portal 2 taking place thousands if years later!' oh and chell is still alive sleeping in bed and humans are still around fighting combine?

i know glados says "i'm the only thing between us and them" but lets be honest ..shes talking about black mesa and not the combine ...or else we will know that right? cuz we do know aperature and black mesa have beef between each other and so that line would only make sense that way

i am lead to believe that portal 1 does also possbily take place between half life 1 and the 7 hour war ...but yet again some red flags brings up because of the portal storms from the nihilanh and gene worm

but only way for glados to know of combine is from the outside of the facility from the cameras ...if any or some report or news being told in the time of portal 1

but has combine been in the facility? probably not or probably so but didnt seem interested

there isnt no evidence how ever that glados knows of the combine or mentions anything close to that ..and shes offline for that for all we know

but yet again all the damage to the facility could be from the defeat of glados in portal 1

but then yet again how the damage seems to be presented ..i have to say yes for rooms really nearby and no for the ones not .. and the damage can be from the shockwave or what ever you call it from the portals that hit the facility and caused some damage each time ..which would explain a whole lot more then just 7 hour war.. as seen in the beggining of half life 2 episode 2..

and i say again there is no way glados knows of the combine unless its from news reports or reports or resistance mentioning it , or cameras from outside the facility if they still work and that would have to be in portal 2 but she be too buzy for that ...(ignore the scene of chell being between the moon and the facility and seeing the earth ...i aint sure that is accurate from how the world is at the point it is))

unless there is some direct seeable evidence that explains some of this ..im just saying that is probably how it is ..

plus the half live universe timelne just doesnt seems ..creditable to me ..and wouldnt make sense ...we cant really say portal 2 takes place after half life 2 series ..((cuz half life 3 is not out yet ..so not direct pin point)) ...

The facility is not damaged because GLaDOS was killed, the facility is damaged because of time, decay. The developers said that they wanted Portal 2 to take place so far in the future that it doesn't effect any events in the timeline. Portal 2 has nothing to do with the Combine or Half-Life.

The "I'm the only thing standing between us and them." is about the combine. This is the full quote:

"Are you trying to escape? Things have changed since the last time you left the building. What's going on out there will make you wish you were back in here."
"I have an infinite capacity for knowledge, and even I'm not sure what's going on outside."
"All I know is I'm the only thing standing between us and them."

Yes, GLaDOS doesn't know about the Combine. All she knows is there is something dangerous outside. And she has to stopped them from getting in, or stop them from finding the facility. The second one is more likely because the Combine are not in Portal 2, so they probably don't know about Aperture.

Tho I have some doubt glados has good enough defender to defend against combine for long term....seeing as what they have vs the combine......its seems as if clue put onto other clues

The facility probably has some automated systems to repair at least some of the electronics even if the facility is on reserve power, so at least the testing tracks work. At the beginning of the game we hear the announcer say:

"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties due to circumstances of potentially apocalyptic significance beyond our control."
"However, thanks to Emergency Testing Protocols, testing can continue."

They have protocols for events like this. The facility was literally designed to survive the apocalypse.

And also why is there still potatoes not rotting for being so old and out there not being preserved? Which they been there when the whole facility was flooded with deadly gas ((why didnt any of then have a gas mask if they would have a neurotoxin generator??))

But this potato thing can just be some joke as seen with potato glados but still..

You are probably looking into this too much. The game doesn't have to follow real life dude, it's just a game.

You are probably looking into this too much. The game doesn't have to follow real life dude, it's just a game.
