Well, SHE is both. her persoanlity was changed multiple times making her really bad and complex, but she realised her ways when she fell out of her body and lost the power of the controlling of the whole facility - so its the opposite of wheatley as he started off good and turned bad when he went into her body

well yes but actually no. acording to the portal lore she was actually cave johnsons assistent that HER mind was transfered into a robot. (glados) so she has a natural grudge for humans but it actually remembers she is caroline while continuing the game (her old self) so she becomes more friendly

Computers and machines don't have a gender per se but because of the lore it's a she.

I'm wondering something, is the original Caroline dead and only her memory is in GladOS or this is the same Caroline consciousness?

bro it is six years later but here;s what I think:
GladOS is Caroline in only the most technical sense in that Caroline shares memories with GladOS. The original Caroline is dead and has been dead for thousands of years.
