Why just bad Custom Chambers ?
Tonight i have played 4 Hours of Custom Chambers (Single Test Chambers) and I was amazed how many bad Chambers I have seen in this 4 Hours. It was just boring to play these Chambers (new and popular).

Examples:
- You come in, put a dice on the cube platform and the exit opens
- You come in and the Exit is already open (you have nothing to do ^^)
- Big size Maps with all the Items that you can use with the Editor, but you just have to set 2 Portals to finish the Map
- You come in, see 23094823098 Fizzlers and Lasers and the only Thing you have to do is make a Portal above the wrong Placed Fizzlers and a Portal behind you
- Buttons right next to a Portal Panel (easy to reach without Jumppads and so on which were built for it)
-Exit right next to a Portal Panel , down there extendable stairs. You have not to finish the Map, because you can set a Portal right next to the Exit and just jump in without Stairs.

Do the Creators test their own Chambers ? Think not. The Ideas behind the test chambers are obvious, but mostly not logically built.

I mean, there are some good Chambers, but the most are just bad. Agree

Well, this is why there are groups for good quality maps. Since Valve isn't going to do any curation on their end, the players have to take it into their own hands.

Usually, if you find a good map, that map maker will have made other good ones as well. So my approach when playing is to select a few random maps at a time, go over them, and then follow up on the authors that have made maps I particularly like.

Part of the problem is there is just so many maps being published. I'm a newbie and on the other end of the stick. I've just published my second map. My first one was meant to be simple & fun, but it just disappeared without a ripple. It may be good or may be trash but I won't know. I think my latest one ("Sticky Eye Candy One" = a shameless plug) is entertaining. A lot of work went into it, including hours of testing, but it will be lost among the 700,000 other games. Sigh...

The reason most chambers are bad is because there is no filter control. If you are looking for some good mappers I can recommend Mevious, Demon Arisen, Hanky Mueller, Afro Melon, and Deathwish808.

What we have is not just newbies, but inexperienced players. The reason I say that is because some people don't even finish the original game. They get a feel for how things work, go to the PTI editor and start throwing whatever sticks to the wall.

I made some test chambers. All I can say is that my first ones were garbage but I improved over time.
