Portal 2

I know what the portal 2 cut f-stop mechanic is...
this is going to be a long post... so lets start. f-stop had 2 main weapons you were gonna have, one was weapon_camera this is the disabled script for it, it is not a working entitie btw http://puu.sh/om9Zh/a2c6e5e6d9.png and here is the scipt for weapon_placement http://puu.sh/om9U1/af290867b2.png so we know that it had to do with using a camera and placing the photos. also, here are the textures for the camera http://puu.sh/omaqx/6b3b6e0fa3.jpg neat huh? all credit goes to this guy on reddit named spam can, so here is crosshair for the f-stop device or camera http://puu.sh/omaIy/81cb010b12.png getting sweaty valve? anyway, here is the crosshair for weapon_placement http://puu.sh/omaJQ/96e9b9fda4.png so you now know it had to do with taking pictures and placing the photos, right, there are two more crosshairs to show you, here's one to tune the size of the f-stop or photo, http://puu.sh/omaKL/d7b2bbeba6.png and here is the inventory full icon http://puu.sh/omaMA/4173a9c71f.png well now that that stuff is out of the way, let me transilate what this means for you, so, you would take this icon http://puu.sh/omaKL/d7b2bbeba6.png and make the size of the photo bigger, but in return it would take up more photos, then, you would take a photo of something, and and it would go to your photo inventory, you would then place the photo down, and it would make the think you took a photo of be smaller or bigger, so, let me give you and example, lets say i had a companion cube, i would take a photo of it, and it would disapear, but it would still be in my photo inventory, so depending on how big the aperture of the camera was when i took the photo, when i put down the photo i took, it would bring the companion cube back, but bigger, smaller, or the same size. you can tell it would've been a slower paced mechanic then the portal gun, but it sounds like a blast to me.

Also, the file name or whatever for the Photo icon is Weapon_placement and for the photo icon it's Weapon_camera.

It would help if you got this to catch some momentum and spread the word.

Thanks, I dug hard, but what else could it be?

Interesting, still doesn't explain the objects that fold in on themselves, or how the manikins would work, or why it was named f-stop as f-stop is related to the changing of lighting to a picture, tho f-stop could have just been a code name

Well, perhaps you shrink manacins or something, I theorize they would patrol around the chamber, and would chase you down and attack you if they saw you, so you had to shrink them and then maybe put a larger object onto them to crush them maybe? As for the folding objects, it's probably just part of of the level changing like the pistons in the first gmae. As for F-stop, it's probably named that because it has to do with the size of the f-stop capturing the size of a prop.

F-stop changes lighting, but more importantly it changes depth of field, flattening or adding depth to an image. A wide F-stop leaves everything but the subject out of focus, a narrow one brings everything in focus like a pinhole camera. Odds are pretty good the F-stop mechanic involved flattening or layering elements so as to make them non-threatening or disappear, or use perspective to connect unconnected puzzle elements. Shame we'll never see anything vavle's thought up in the last 15 years.

That would make sense too, I say that our two theories make the most sense. And honestly I hate that valve gets rid of everything their lousy beta testers want to cut out, and TBH valve has some of the worst beta testers and beta testing system out there, also, just curious, what do you think the manikins did?

Really cool! Hopefully Valve will make a game called "Shapperture" (Shutter+Aperture) With the F-Stop mechanics in it.I would also like to see them develop a n Aperture Tag 2 along with the original creators of Aperture Tag, add the gravity gun, and a mini Portal Gun to it. What a doozy! Maybe call it Narbacular Drop? Idk I just know of all of Valves past and that they will triple their profit if they made new games like Half-Life 3 and Portal 3 (Which apparently is ACTUALLY being developed already!! Can't wait!![Wait til E3])

Uh narbacular drops was the game that inspired the first portal 1 just FYI.

I know... (I said I know pretty much all of Valves past and that they will triple their profit from making games and software again.)

They won't though, they would rather make money off of good games that they didn't make. I honestly have lost my interest and valve, and honestly, kind of hate them.
