Portal 2

*SPOILER* If GlaDOS is, "Still Alive," at the end of Portal then why do you have to wake her up in Portal 2?
*SPOILER* So I finally played both portal games, which were amazing, but one thing i don't understand is, if GlaDOS is alive and able to write the Still Alive adendum at the end of portal then why is there the sequence in Portal 2 where you come across GlaDOS' corpse and wake her up? Is she writing the song inside her brain but not technically awake? If so then who drags you back in at the end of Portal?

moreover, if she is "Still Alive", then why is she complaining about how you killed her...? 'cus if it's so then you didn't technically kill her, right?

maybe it's cause she was built to move around even if destroyed and she sings"Still Alive" whilst taking you back in and you supposedly were knocked out for the amount of time for her to rebuild herself (and a new laboratory over the old Apeture) to trap you again. She probably used sleeping gas to remain you unconsious for long enough. But that gives me one question:how does she not kill you, but simply keep you unconcious for a very looong time?

This is an answer that has nothing to do with the plot or lore of portal, but I think you have to wake GlaDOS because, even though her body was destroyed, her character could have been stored into some kind of computer or system. Thus, she was able to create her body by hacking into the construction robots, but, for reasons unknown, (or maybe it is just me who doesn't know) GlaDOS could not enter the body. But by putting wheatley into the computer while trying to find the escape pod switch, he could have accidently done something that allowed GlaDOS to enter the body. Wheatley even says himself while you are busy trying to find a switch. "Uh, no idea what im doing here.." So once GlaDOS enters the body, she realises (or hears wheatley panic) someone is in the room with the switches. So she lifts up the floor to see who it is, and finds you.

The party core drags you back in and turns off the lights. (My theory) GLaDOS was building a new body for herself when you were testing. Her old body got blown up, and in the sequel to P0RTAL, you wake up that new body, as GLaDOS forgot to transfer her energy to her new body remotely, then you and Wheatly wake her up on accident since she didn't wake herself up.

Huh? this doesnt explain why they made you wake her up in the second one though.

maybe shes complaining because you destroyed, or killed, her first body, and she had to go through the trouble of making a new one, as seen in Portal 2? I think the word kill here could have a different meaning then what we think.

It's mentioned she had a black-box thingy. I assume that all the switches did was turn her "body" on.

That could be a possibility, but while you were in the room with all the switches, you never actually flipped one. You were just looking for one that controlled an escape pod. Wheatly couldn't have either because he was in the plug in and doesnt have any arms. Besides, that was alot of switches for GlaDOS's body.
