How do I completely remove Portal 2 map clutter?

Hello,

I want to unsubscribe and clean out all of the Portal 2 community maps I have accumulated over time (both in the in-game menu and the on-disk file folder). However, whenever Steam is running it constantly re-downloads all of the file folders for the maps and also puts them inside the in game's "history" and "my queue" lists. Specifically, everything is downloaded in the Steam/steamapps/common/Portal 2/portal2/maps/workshop folder, even after I have already unsubscribed to all the items. I'm looking to completely purge both the game listings and the files of the maps due to clutter and space-saving for my computer.
