Portal 2
Portal 2 too dark (As in lighting) for me.
I know Portal 2 is supposed to be dark, hiding crap in the darkness but even at maximum brightness both in-game and on my laptop monitor IN A PITCH BLACK ROOM, I find myself squinting at my screen stumbling in the dark, into walls and off cliffs, does anyone have any commands to force the brightness level past the game's cap? Hell, i'll even take a command that makes every texture glow if i need to.

The console says:

"mat_monitorgamma" = "1.800000" ( def. "2.2" ) min. 1.600000 max. 2.600000 archive - monitor gamma (typically 2.2 for CRT and 1.7 for LCD)

Well, you can increase that.

Well, what number value do I punch in?

Start with the max and if that's too bright, tone it down.

The in-game option is already at maximum, what I mean is is there a particular maximum console brightness number value.

Maybe our setups are just on opposite sides of the spectrum.

Oh Jesus Christ... Well... That's helpful, gonna miss the atmospheric shadows but, I'll gladly take eyesight over shadow perception.

In case anyone else has my problem, I've slapped together this bind that lets me turn mat_fullbright on and off on a toggle, it works quite nicely:

bindtoggle "h" "mat_fullbright"

Feel free to swap "h" with whatever key you wish, it's useful to me, so maybe it can be to you, maybe it works on other source games, who knows?

Thanks again "a Hippobottomus".
