Whats bad is fire and lightning, cant be spammed, slows you down, and is overall VERY risky when surrounded.
Frost staff, just dance around them, no worries.
I rarely use the charged attack, except when I need that little bit of extra range, but playing using that weapon for a whole run is punishing, and my hand starts to hurt by the time I finish a run. It's like an anti-accessibility feature. I like having the option to charge for extra range, but not at the cost of having to click for every attack normally.
While I do understand that someone wouldn't like that particular playstyle of having to click at a slightly higher pace, not everything that one person or the other dislikes is an "anti-accessibility feature".
Imagine we removed everything from a game that is either difficult, or that someone doesn't like doing - we'd probably just be watching a movie in the end.^^
That being said, something that I could imagine, would be an alternate input method for weapons like the ice staff - for instance, to basically switch around the charging and the rapid fire, so you would click once to charge and click again to release, whereas holding the mouse button could do rapid fire.
Anyway, I get what you mean by not removing difficult things, and for certain games rapid and sustained button presses are a necessary part of play. I literally cannot play them, because I have issues with my hands that would make playing them physically detrimental. That doesn't mean those games can't exist for the people who can play them and enjoy those kinds of mechanics. However, for all other attacks in this game, you're allowed to just hold the mouse button down, and it doesn't normally ask for that sustained constant clicking.
I can, of course, just not use that staff, but I like that staff, XD. There are some things that not everyone can do, and that's normal. There are other games I can only play in limited sessions or have to adapt my playstyle to lessen the impact on my hands. So it isn't about something I just dislike. That's what I meant by it seeming like "anti-accessibility". I only brought it up because Eldeman said "just spam it" and I wanted to highlight that's not always an option for everyone. It doesn't necessarily mean anything needs to be changed, it's just a fact of life, and worth keeping in mind.
But yeah, I don't like the charging either, I'd rather it be changed. We already have right click for a special attack.
Same with the bow, charging is just unfun imo, I wish it was replaced with a different skill and give the autoattack some pierce.
