Outcast - Second Contact - Patch 2 released!
Outcast - Second Contact has been updated! This second patch brings fixes to NPC pathfinding and general performance improvements.

You can find the full list of changes below:

Critical Fixes:
  • Fixed multiple crashes while shooting or travelling through Daokas.
  • Fixed several memory leaks possibly impacting stability and performance.
  • Fixed various pathfinding issues and stuck characters.

Gameplay Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where Naarn would be missing (also fixed in existing saved games).
  • Fixed an issue where Illot would refuse to talk after being healed and where Shamaaz became stuck trying to heal Illot (also fixed in existing saved games).
  • Fixed an issue where Sadar would not propose to go back to Oru’s Island as intended.
  • Fixed a pathfinding issue which would cause Zoran to become stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where Zine would not go to the crusher.
  • Fixed an issue where Zidar’s friend would not talk when intended.
  • Fixed an issue with Shadi, whom would not play the tune or give back the map as intended.
  • Fixed an issue which would sometimes cause Kuryan to be missing.
  • Fixed an issue where Egar was stuck in water.
  • Fixed an issue where Zidar’s boat would not return to the dock as intended.

Features/Improvements:
  • Players can now return to Zorkatraz.
  • Added support for multiple auto-saved slots (when slots are available).
  • Added F-Link telepod visualization in full-screen map.
  • Added an option to disable Talan word definitions.
  • Added an option to disable dodge rolls.
  • Added a help screen displaying control mapping.

HOTFIX : We just updated patch 2 to fix an issue with medikits disappearing from backpack when using one of them under some circumstances.

Glad to see that the game is getting better and better. Please put PC graphics options on the agenda for patch 3, then everyone should be happy. :Ulukai:

Also add all the missing sounds, please! (singing Workers, various sounds the Twon Has used to make)

I have a mid to low end machine, as seen in the screenshot above, but I still think it could perform better. Also, frame limiter seems to be removed from the exclusive fullscreen mode, and the frametime in normal fullscreen mode seems wrong @30fps. Other than that, the game just keeps getting better and better! In the next patch there could be an option to hide the mini map in the cutscenes as well.

Great patch! From 30fps I went straight up to 60 :).

Any possibility to add different colored huds in the future? I'm really missing the neon green :)

Same problem. 40fps in Okriana with a GTX1080 with 17% GPU usage and 40% CPU usage. In others levels, 60 fps but weird fps drops to 40fps sometimes.
Hope to a fix.

Workers in Motazaar are singing normal as in the original game on my system...

Thank you so much for listening and adding the option to disable those word definitions! It was easily the most important thing you fixed. Now Outcast Second Contact is a worthy remake of the original in my eyes. Great job!!!
Could you still add a prone stance for Cutter? :D I know that it sounds silly to request this feature but I think it made hiding from enemies feel much more intense than just crouching because Cutter then really tries to "blend" with his surroundings. I loved hiding from enemies in Talanzaar rooftops by proning and observing my enemies below me :D

I can confirm that. No missing sounds at all. Some minor quality problems, though. And the effects/surround were better in the original with EAX.

Hi,

if you didn't change Steam's options, updates kick in autimatically. To be sure, navigate to X:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Outcast - Second Contact and hover with your mouse on the outcast.exe. Should be version 5.6.3.5981.
